Dirty Cheeseburger

In the words of Christina Aguilera, let’s get DIRTY! Inspired by an off-menu item from the legends at local Ballarat cafe Hideaway Coffee Bar. Who thought putting peanut butter on your cheeseburger could work but it just does. The peanut butter mixed with the ketchup and mustard, it’s giving Satay vibes!
INGREDIENTS

2 brioche burger buns, halved

300g beef mince

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

2 tbsp olive oil

½ white onion, finely diced

2 slices American cheddar (burger cheese)

¼ cup sliced pickles

2 tbsp ketchup

2 tbsp American mustard

¼ cup crunchy peanut butter

Method

1. In a large frying pan or on the barbecue, on medium heat, toast burger buns cut side down until lightly toasted. Set aside.

2. Divide the beef mince into two equal portions and press into burger patties, nice and thin. Season both patties with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil.

3. Turn your frying pan or barbecue up to high heat. Fry the burger patties for 2 to 3 minutes, flip and top with onion and American cheddar and cook for a further 2 minutes. Once the cheese has melted, remove the patties and set aside.

4. To build your dirty cheeseburgers, generously spread each bottom bun with crunchy peanut butter. Top with cheesy beef patty, pickles, ketchup and mustard. Put on the lid and serve.
